Shark Pact Manifesto / Will Dockery & Shadowville All-Stars

Shark Pact Manifesto

The law of the undertow
it ends at the waterline.
In the Summerville night
not all of us can win.

There we are
where we never really were
Here we are
sidestepping the future.
Smile at me
while you stab me in the back.
Smile at me
make the moment last.

Standing near Ferry Landing
wind stinging my eyes.
Centuries reflect on the river
as you smile from the sky.
Shark Pact manifesto
no one makes a sound.
Silent waiting for the Tie Snake
to drag us Underground

I saw the river darken
so green it turns to black
With the sun fading away
edge of Alabama on my back.

Here we are
at the only place you'd allow
There you go
forcing my hand on
this burning bridge now.

There we are
where we never really were
Here we go
sidestepping the future.
Smile at me
from out of the past
Smile at me
make it last.

Thanks, Tom... not sure I'm familiar with that one at the moment, and have
to hit the highway for a road trip and some music out in Alabama today, but
will investigate that on my return!

Tom... I'm looking around but can't remember or find anything relevant
under that title.
The closest is "Sitting By The Window" by Moby Grape, but not sure how
that relates.

My bad. It's, "The Cars Hiss By My Window". Here's my most current
favorite version:

Thanks, Tom... I just found this as I was closing down to head downtown for
a while...

Will return soon with comments, love some Jim Morrison, I think is obvious.

Catching up some, now, yes, the Jim Morrison influence is one of the
connectors with many in my audience, I and my comrades in the band usually
get a chuckle when some person requests that we "do the Doors song", which
has turned out to be "Wobble", most often:

"Wobble" written by Will Dockery & Henry Conley

http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_12951892

Wobble

Black soul
in a haunted swirl.
Crisp snap
on the edge of my world.
Dark night
without clouds.
Swift train
clacking loud.
A black veil for you
A black veil for you
A black veil for you
my aim was true.

Spiral for me baby
seems I'll take the chance
uncharted cosmic wobble
to dance an eternal dance...
Let the angels dance
let the angels dance
let the angels dance
let the young girls dance.

Doomed rocket
out of fuel.
Skittered sidewise
with a twist of blue.
I watched it fall
and I thought of you.
Falling just for you
falling just for you
falling just for you
and you know who.

You shine like stardust, baby
I'm in your thrall, a trance.
A pinprick in a photograph
to dance the eternal dance.
Let the dibbuks dance
let the dibbuks dance
let the dibbuks dance
let the young girls dance.

"I tell you, sometimes, when I take a look at you... I just keep looking
and
looking. I think I could. Well, I'll tell you something. I've got poetry
in
me. I do. I've got poetry in me. I ain't going to put it down on paper. I
ain't no educated man. I got sense enough not to try it. I can't never say
nothing to you... You're just freezing my soul, that's what you're doing.
Freezing my soul." -Warren Beatty in "McCabe & Mrs. Miller"

That was, without a doubt
I agree... it was without a doubt at all!
